Sit Up Straight – How to Fix Bad Posture

Having good posture is one of the best ways to prevent back pain and spinal issues. These 5 steps can be taken to improve your posture at home:
  1. To discover whether you have incorrect posture, complete the wall test. Lean against the wall from your head down your back. Position feet approximately 5 inches from the wall, then keep your abdominal muscles nice and tight. If you can push off the wall while maintaining your posture, you are standing with correct posture.
  2. Work on correcting your posture while seated. Keep your feet flat on the floor and sit upright with a pillow or any other lumbar support for your lower back.
  3. Ensure proper posture while driving by making sure your seat is at the proper distance. Pulling the seat forward a bit can drastically improve your posture and comfort. Your head should be against the headrest while driving with your elbows only slightly bent when holding the steering wheel.
  4. Sleeping on a firm mattress will work wonders on your posture overnight. Use only one pillow and sleep on your side rather than your stomach.
  5. Work on strengthening your shoulders, stomach and back muscles with various exercises every day. Implementing these exercises in your workout routine will improve your posture and prevent injuries and pain.

Be aware of your poor habits that have caused incorrect posture while you work to fix it. Imagine you have a book resting on your head or string tied to the top of your head while sitting, driving or walking and you will see a difference in your posture in the long run.

Visit a physiotherapist to get an assessment on your posture, receive a treatment plan and recommendations on products designed to improve posture.

I agree! This one of the methods for posture correction. Knowing that sitting up straight is a good way to improve and fix our bad posture.
This is great.
