These 5 Exercises have become popular over the years for both men and women, with each having advantages and disadvantages.

  1. CrossFit is a popular exercise class that targets a variety of fitness components including cardiorespiratory, stamina, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, power, speed, agility, balance, coordination and accuracy. What sets CrossFit apart is it's short time span and high intensity, with a focus on exerting as much energy as possible. However, CrossFit is only recommended for those seeking to build muscle mass, not lose weight, and there is also a higher risk of injury.
  2. Hot Yoga is a form of yoga that takes place in a studio set to about 40 degrees Celsius that involves many standing and sitting poses. This is a great alternative to high intensity workouts as it focuses on breathing and relaxation while burning fat and toning muscles. The downside is the temperature can overwhelm people and cause dehydration.
  3. Zumba is a dance infused workout that is best suited for people looking to have fun while they workout. Classes are suited for all ages, both genders and all experience levels. The combination of Latin music and cardio targets weight loss and muscle tone yet can be too confusing for some and may be hard to keep up with.
  4. Workout videos are popular for busy people who do not have time to travel to a gym or group class and prefer to workout solo. High intensity video series like Insanity are great for those who want results fast and can handle difficult and intense workouts. The goal of the exercise is to workout at your body's maximum capacity for the entire time without taking any breaks. High intensity videos are not suited for everyone and is geared towards people who want full body transformations. Check out videos on Youtube to find hundreds of instructional videos that fit your needs.
  5. Spinning is a cycling class taught by a instructor in a studio where students do intense cardio in an upbeat environment. The combination of sprints and cool downs allow for people to go at their own pace without overexerting themselves if the speed is not comfortable for them. Spin class is a great alternative for those who love to bicycle when the weather is not permitting.
